First-Timer's Guide to Nashik Kumbh
Plan around the crowds: come early, travel light, book your stay ahead.
The Nashik Kumbh can feel overwhelming if it is your first visit. The simplest approach is to decide a few things early and keep everything else flexible. This guide covers the decisions that matter most.
1. Pick your dates
The Simhastha runs from 31 October 2026 to 24 July 2028. You do not have to come on a bathing day. Ordinary days are calmer and the Godavari is just as sacred. If you do want to attend a main Amrit Snan, those dates are 2 August, 31 August and 11–12 September 2027, and you should expect heavy crowds and restrictions.
2. Book your stay early
Hotels fill up and prices rise sharply around the main bathing days. Book as early as you can, prefer refundable rates, and decide whether you want to stay in Panchavati, near the railway station, or in Trimbak.
3. Plan in two clusters
Visit Panchavati first: Ramkund, Kalaram Temple, Sita Gufa and Kapaleshwar are all close together. Then give a separate day to Trimbakeshwar and Brahmagiri, which are about 28–30 km away.
4. Travel light, stay together
Carry a small bag, a water bottle, an ID and a printed booking. Fix a meeting point with your group and share live location.
5. Keep a buffer day
Processions and security arrangements can close roads at short notice. A spare day lets you adjust without missing your main darshan.
