Amrit Snan (Shahi Snan) Explained

The principal bathing days of the Kumbh, when akharas take holy dips in an order set by tradition.

Amrit Snan, formerly called Shahi Snan, is the most sacred bath of the Kumbh Mela. Akharas proceed in a fixed order to the river, followed by pilgrims at designated ghats. At Nashik, bathing takes place at Ramkund in Panchavati, while Trimbakeshwar uses Kushavarta. Crowd management rules are strict on these dates, so plan travel, accommodation and entry points well in advance.
